Week 3 & 4: Tuesday, April 17th - Picture Day Friday, April 20th - Harris Lake Field Trip - We still need parent volunteers who are REGISTERED volunteers with Wake County Week 2: Snow make-up days have been canceled!! (No school Sat., April 7th or 14th!!!) Picture Day - Tuesday, April 17th Week 1: Welcome Back!! Thursday, March 28th - FULL day Friday, March 29th - Holiday Saturday, April 7th - make-up day Saturday, April 14th - make-up day (Saturday make-up days are from 9:15-12:45) Friday, April 20th - Harris Lake Field Trip - information is being sent home on Monday. (Please return permission slip by Thursday, April 28th - NO cost to students!) We are so excited to welcome our new assistant principal, April Thomas, on Monday, March 26th. We are also sending home information about our new school wide discipline and a sheet that needs to be signed and returned by Thursday. Quarter 3 Week 5: Friday, Feb. 9 - Early Release (1:15) Saturday, Feb. 10- Make-up Day (12:45) Monday - Wednesday (Feb. 12-14) - Your child can bring Valentine cards for friends. Please make sure you dress your child in layers. Our room is often cold. Also, please make sure your child always has a warm coat. We will go outside whenever we can - not too cold!! Weeks 1 and 2: (due to snow) Monday, January 1 - Holiday Monday, January 15 - Holiday Saturday, January 20 - Make-up Day Thursday, January 25th - MES Multicultural Night (6:00pm) Please make sure you dress your child in layers. Our room was cold before we left, and I'm not sure what to expect with the outside temperatures so cold. Also, please make sure your child always has a warm coat. We will go outside whenever we can - not too cold! Quarter 2 Weeks 7 & 8: Tuesday, November 21st - Early Release Day - 1:15 - Lunch will be served, but we will not have snack Wednesday - Friday, November 22nd-24th - Thanksgiving Holiday This week we will start our Middle of Year mClass (Literacy) assessments. You will be receiving the Home Connect Letter before we track out to update you on your child's progress. Week 2: Very successful first week back!! Thank you for being so quick with returning all field trip permission slips and money. We still need volunteers. Bullying Prevention & Awareness Week October 9th-13th Monday October 9th - “LET’S BLACK OUT BULLYING!” (wear all black) Tuesday October 10th - “I’M A JEAN-IUS, I’M BULLY- FREE” (wear your favorite pair of jeans) Wednesday October 11th - “TEAM UP AGAINST BULLYING” (wear your favorite team clothing) Thursday October 12th - “TREATING OTHERS WITH RESPECT IS NO SWEAT!” (wear your favorite sweats) Friday October 13th - “LET’S PUT BULLYING TO SLEEP” (wear your favorite pj’s) **Don't forget to send your contributions for the PTA Fundraiser!! Week 1: Welcome Back!! I missed you all and hope that you had a wonderful time during your first track out!! We have a lot happening this quarter so keep checking back for updates. Please make sure you remember to send your child a change of clothes (appropriate for the fall weather) and a towel. We are giving up rest time on a regular basis, but we do use the towels occasionally to read outside, picnic outside, etc. We will not be sending these home every Friday since we will not use them every week. *Our first exciting activity will be this Wednesday, October 4th. We will participate in the schoolwide Science-Go-Round. We will have scientists from the community come in to do science activities with us! *On Thursday, October 19th, we will go on our first field trip. Information will be coming home on Monday, October 2nd. Please read carefully and have all things submitted by Thursday, October 5th. We will need volunteers. If you would like to go with us, you MUST BE A REGISTERED VOLUNTEER. This takes a couple of weeks so please come into the school office and do this immediately if you haven't done so already. Quarter 1 Week 9: Conferences will continue this week. Friday will be our last day before Track Out. Report Cards will be sent home the Friday after we return - Oct. 6. (This is new this year!) We are so lucky to have Drew Daywalt and Matt Myers as our guest author and illustrator this coming Friday. They are being sponsored by Quail Ridge Books. Week 8: Conferences begin this Thursday and Friday and will continue next week. Please make sure you check your date and time. Monday, September 4 - Holiday Friday, September 8 - last day before track out Week 7: *Nursery Rhyme Recital: Friday, August 25th - make sure you have memorized your nursery rhyme and have your costume. *Conference dates were sent home in Friday Folders. Please make sure you put your day and time on your calendar. We will discuss their Staggered Entry Assessments and their progress since then. Week 6: Our first Early Release will be this Friday, August 18th. Students will be dismissed at 1:15. Please return the sheet we will be sending next week so we know how your child will be going home. Nursery Rhyme Unit and Recital information came home in your child's Friday Folder. Please make sure your child is working on memorizing a nursery rhyme and creating a costume. Week 5: "Family" homework will be in your child's Daily Folder on Monday, August 7. It is not due until Friday, August 11, but you can return it any day this week. Week 4: Just found "Sapphire" t-shirts at JoAnn Fabrics in the BJs shopping center near Crossroads and the red binders with a pocket sleeve on the front at Wal-Mart. Week 3: Thank you for attending Open House. Please let me know if you have any questions. Also, please remember to send any supplies or paperwork that hasn't been turned in. Week 2: Don't forget to send in supplies and any paperwork you may still have!! See you on Thursday, July 20 at 6:00 for Open House.
