Week 6: Nursery Rhymes
Reading: We will continue working on identifying print concepts and how illustrations and text work together to tell a story. Our other focus this week will be rhyming words. We will be assessing this objective this week! We are also so excited about our Nursery Rhyme recital on Friday!
Writing: We will be working on beginning writing skills. This week we will begin writing some personal narratives. They all love to tell stories about what they are doing so they should enjoy this. We are in Kindergarten so we don't know how to spell everything the grown-up way. We are learning to say words we want to write and listen for the sounds. This is the "Kindergarten way".
Math: We will continue practicing writing our numbers. We will be working on learning various counting strategies.
Reminders:
*Nursery Rhyme Recital - Friday, August 25th
Some things to work on:
* rhyming words (should be able to tell if 2 words rhyme and when given a word they can tell you a word that rhymes with it)
* counting by 10s to 100
* counting by 1s to 30
* Letterland characters, the letters they hide behind and their sounds. The sheet with all this information was given out at Open House. If you were not able to attend, I sent it home in your child's Friday Folder that week.
