Qtr. 2 - Week 5: Pumpkins
Reading: This week we will be working on asking and answering questions about a text. You can practice this at home as well. Understanding how to ask questions instead of telling something can be tricky! Have them practice asking questions to you about the story you read to them or they read to you - who? what? where? when? why?
Writing: We will continue working on writing patterned books. These will be based on our personal experiences. We will also be incorporating the "popcorn words" we will be practicing. We are in Kindergarten so we don't know how to spell everything the grown-up way. We are learning to say words we want to write and listen for the sounds. This is the "Kindergarten way".
Math: We will be working on numbers in the teens.
Reminders:
*Dress as Your Favorite Character Day - Tuesday, October 31
*Parent Education Night - Thursday, November 2
*Please remember to send a water bottle and a snack with a separate drink every day.
*Please remember to send a change of clothes (appropriate for the Fall weather).
Some things to work on:
* syllables (say a word and have your child clap the syllables and tell how many)
* counting by 1s to 50
* Letterland characters, the letters they hide behind and their sounds. The sheet with all this information was given out at Open House.
*Popcorn Words - You child will need to be able to say this words quickly when flashed in front of them.
