Qtr. 2 - Weeks 7 & 8: Thanksgiving
Reading: This week we will continue working on asking and answering questions about a text. This week we will be using non-fiction texts and passages. You can practice this at home as well. Understanding how to ask questions instead of telling something can be tricky! They have come a long way with this activity!! Have them practice asking questions to you about the story you read to them or they read to you - who? what? where? when? why?
Writing: We will be writing opinion pieces. These will be based on our personal experiences. We will also be incorporating the "popcorn words" we will be practicing. We are in Kindergarten so we don't know how to spell everything the grown-up way. We are learning to say words we want to write and listen for the sounds. This is the "Kindergarten way".
Math: We will be working on numbers in the teens.
Reminders:
*Early Release Day - Tuesday, November 21 (1:15) Lunch will be served, but we won't have snack
*Holiday - Wednesday - Friday, November 22-24
*Please remember to have your child wear a coat to school. We go outside everyday that it does not rain and the temperature is about freezing.
*Please remember to send a water bottle and a snack with a separate drink every day.
*Please remember to send a change of clothes (appropriate for the Fall weather).
Some things to work on:
* asking questions about the text
* antonyms (opposites - hot/cold, up/down, etc.)
* counting by 1s to 50
* Letterland characters, the letters they hide behind and their sounds. The sheet with all this information was given out at Open House.
*Popcorn Words - You child will need to be able to say this words quickly when flashed in front of them
